| January | The Macken Fight took place. Fr Ned McHugh rode to Dublin to get a reprieve for an Ignatious McManus who was due to be hung. Unfortunately Fr McHugh didn’t make it in time. |

| July | Hundreds of people marched from Derrylin to -> Knockninny -> Macken. Derrylin Parish priest tried to disperse the people. They fought with Protestants at Macken and 4 Protestant men were killed. The number of Catholics killed were unknown. |
